Message from the Board
The American Board of Assessment Psychology (ABAP) was established in 1993 to recognize those assessment pioneers who were contributing significantly to the field and established a baseline of excellence in assessment. Relaunching in 2026 as the American Board of Psychological Assessment (ABPA), we hope to continue this tradition of recognizing excellence, adding more standardization, rigor, and ongoing requirements to maintain excellence. We have retained some of the processes previously established, but we have also modernized what it means to go through a certification process to demonstrate excellence. We hope to continue to grow and become the recognized resource for excellence in psychological testing and assessment.
